....ok i'm letting go (says the astronaut at the start of the track).... and what you need to do when you listen to lemon jelly is exactly that ...just let go... be swept along by the loops and the sounds and yeah it's beautiful just beautiful. while the duo are evidently electronica they uses real sounds to great effect - the guitar is lovely. and they are masters of taking it down then launching the drum loop again.
"spacewalk" from the 2002 "lost horizons" album uses ed white's 1965 audio from the gemini 4 mission and takes us on a sweet sweet journey as we hear the excitement in his voice. "pushy" was a bonus track on the same album and is a great example of lemon jelly's ability to drift you right into their world and hold you there for just one second short of seven minutes without you ever asking when the tune will end and secretly hoping that it might never have to!
"return to patagonia", also from lost horizons, exists in another time... another journey moving you ever closer to the suggested destination... sax, jazz drums and bass, and those ethereal spoken words .....some lovely break downs ...and by the end you're on a train and heading for the station ...in the same way as classical music can evoke images and stories lemon jelly do the same. ...and just wait for the choir!
hell... don't buy this here go and buy the album lost horizons but get "pushy" off this single version to make sure you get the whole star prize!!
