Released in June of 1985, "The Beach Boys" was an album that showed folks of the 80's that the group was still together, relevant and releasing decent albums. It was the first to be recorded after the accidental drowning of original drummer and founding member Dennis Wilson. It was also the group's first album to be recorded digitally and released on cd. The tracks were written and recorded by all of the founding and surviving members of the band, including Brian Wilson. Highlights include "Getcha Back" (a very catchy song which included a video that hit rotation on MTV), "It's Gettin' Late", "She Believes In Love Again" (a heartfelt ballad by song craftsman and band member Bruce Johnston), "California Calling" (an upbeat fun-on-the-beach classic Beach Boys type song), and "Where I Belong" (a hauntingly beautiful track with lead vocals by Carl Wilson).
