I think my jaw hit the floor when I was browsing singles on mp3Caprice and saw this one by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. I'm a newcomer to Oasis's music and was so excited to see that Noel had gone solo! Don't know why I was surprised, the guy is a genius songwriter and clearly had plenty left to write!
"The Death of You and Me" is the first single from the debut album "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds" (from the group of the same name). This one was awesome - trombones and all! I don't even like trombones usually, lol. Gives it a great jazzy feel that I haven't heard from Noel before. And the lyrics "I'm watching my TV, or is it watching me?" Just finished watching the accompanying video for "The Death of You and Me," it has a kind of unexpected western setting in a old dusty diner where the waitress watches the band go by. I love it when, after Noel pushes her into the pool and she climbs out, she ends up going on the wagon with the band! Then there's a tantalizing "to be continued". What next...?
The B-Side "The Good Rebel" is worth listening to as well, in a little more traditional Oasis-style. This single will definitely get me to listen to the rest of the album. As if I needed an incentive.
