The only reason I give this EP 3 stars is because of the songs My Mirror Speaks and I Was Once A Loyal Lover. The other songs are neither here nor there in my book. Little Bribes and A Diamond And A Tether really don't do anything for me off this album. Others may like that sound, but for me, it isn't true Death Cab.
My Mirror Speaks is one of the greats. Not too moody but still contains lyrical depth. Not to mention a stellar sound and vocal showcasing by Ben Gibbard once again. I Was Once A Loyal Lover is like My Mirror Speaks in the sense that it is faster paced than most of their other songs. Again, great lyrical story and a vocal sound that takes you back to the beginning of Death Cab.
The Talking Bird (Demo) could be a great song. The only problem is that the album version on Narrow Stairs is a lot better. This one is more acoustic and really doesn't fit Ben's voice as well as the other version. An OK EP for Death Cab, but still not their greatest. Keep supporting Death Cab for Cutie and their music.
