Also by T-Bone Walker
This 4 Disc box set covers the great Texas born blues guitarist and singer Aaron Thibeaux "T-Bone" Walker's recording career from 1929 to 1951. Two sides from the then 19-year-old Oak Cliff T-Bone ("Trinity River Blues" and "Wichita Falls Blues") are followed by 1940's "T-Bone Blues", two 1942 sides for Capitol Records ("I Got A Break Baby" and "Mean Old World"), his six sides for the Rhumboogie label and two for Mercury.
The period 1946-1948 saw Walker record for Black & White. His "Call It Stormy Monday" has become a blues standard; "Bobby Sox Blues" and "West Side Baby" were both top ten US R&B hits; whereas "T-Bone Shuffle", "T-Bone Jumps Again" and "You're My Best Poker Hand" are fine examples of his jump blues stylings.
Walker recorded for Imperial Records from 1950-1954 and 28 of his sides from the first 2 years at that label are included here.
Walker was a major innovator of electric blues and an influence on B.B. King and Chuck Berry, to name two. This collection comes highly recommended.
