This album marks a new age for The Residents. Their music became something much more accessible for the casual listener, and I guess that's a good and a bad thing at the same time. It's obviously a good thing, because that means more people can get into their sound, and having more fans is never a bad thing! However, I kinda miss their early sound, with all that insanity surrounding their joyful music. I guess that's just my opinion, so I'll stop here.
Wormwood itself is still a great album. I still give it five stars because the good songs in it are REALLY good, while the least favorite ones aren't that bad either. My personal favorites are "They are the Meat", "Spilling the Seed" and "Hanging by His Hair". "Burn Baby Burn" and "Fire Fall" sound better live.
The only thing I don't really like about this album is that it sometimes sounds like I'm listening to actual Christian music, and it makes me feel weird... but I guess it's supposed to be like that, so I'm not complaining. Once again, that is just me talking. You'd have to listen to it yourself if you want to make any conclusions.
