Is "7: The Best Of Stryper" truly the best of Stryper? Well yes and no. First off, like any best of compilation, it only represents selections up to the point of the release. Second, what one person thinks of as best may not coincide with another person's view of what constitutes the best.

This selection of songs comes from each CD release up to this point. In addition to that, there are two new songs on the CD. As expected "To Hell With The Devil" is featured prominently in this line-up.

To start off the CD, they put the two new songs. "Something" and "For You." These are decent songs, but I think there are better songs that could have been placed on a "Best Of" CD.

There are three songs from the "Against The Law" CD. These are good selections from this CD. I really like the guitar work in "All For One." Missing is "Two Bodies (One Mind One Soul)" which I feel would have been a good choice also.

"In God We Trust" has two songs, "In God We Trust" and "Always There For You." There are other selections that could have been added, but these two songs were the biggest from that CD. I can't complain with the choice of these two songs.

"To Hell With The Devil" boasts five songs. "To Hell With The Devil, "Calling On You," "Free," "Honestly," and "The Way" come from this CD. Any of the eleven songs would have been great choices.

"Soldiers Under Command" has three songs. "Soldiers Under Command," "Makes Me Wanna Sing," and "Reach Out" are three good choices. I think there are better songs on that CD, such as "First Love" and "Together As One," but that is personal preference. I enjoy all the songs from that CD.

"The Yellow And Black Attack" has only two songs. While the CD only has eight (or six if you have the original release of the CD), all of them would have been good choices. Only "From Wrong To Right" and "Loving You" made it onto the "7" CD. I would have a difficult time choosing only a few songs from "The Yellow And Black Attack" CD.

"Believe" comes from the "Can't Stop The Rock" CD. Given that the goal was to get songs from each prior CD, this was a decent choice. There were only two choices from this CD, and this choice shows their patriotism.

I think there could have been more songs included on this CD, but I'm not complaining. Even without the choices I feel are among the best of Stryper, this is a solid CD.

With the edition of 2 new recordings this is the same type of offering of a previous release, Can't stop the Rock. A collection of best of songs by Stryper not much more. The 2 new recording really are more of a Michael Sweet add on then a Stryper release.
