The shoddy expression has eventually become Kurt Vile's signature. Full conscious and with common nausea, he draws on the same shelf at Bottle It In, as he has done so far. On the seventh album from the slackerrocker's hand, there is no change as much as a comma on the musical business card. But why also change something that works impeccably. "Some might be calling me a bore, but I'm still out here having fun / Guys my age all raising kids, I'm raising hell just like I did," sounds like the unusually catchy Rollin With The Flow.
At Bassackwards and the title track, Vile demonstrates how he can play a song indefinitely without changing the pace and still retaining one who listens with full twang on the guitar and a repetitive rhythmic drive. Cold Was The Wind cheered out like on a sunny day in California, while the ten minute long and outstanding Skinny Minni with Vilas mumbling voice vocal and small shocking missiles of noise keeps the number running without falling through. Even on repeat, the slacker king holds the fan high and stretches beyond the musical trends of the day on Bottle It In with its own obsessive charm.
