The Red Hot Chili Peppers have enjoyed enormous success around the globe for almost two decades now, and with good reason. Since their 1991 album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik", the mainstream music-loving crowd has woken up to their enormous musical prowess, and Californication confirmed that the Peppers were here to stay.
The album is probably RHCP's best to date, with tremendous songs like "Around the World", "Scar Tissue", the titular "Californication" and my personal favourite track ever from them, "Otherside", which features such a mixture of emotion and subtle-but-powerful guitar bits.
There is little else to say other than that you owe it to yourself to own this album. Buy it, and listen to it over and over again. After all this time, it remains one of my favourite rock/pop albums of all time, and chances are it could be yours as well. Just get it. You won't regret it.

Californication sees the Chili Peppers at the top of their game. A deep, thoughtful album that shunted the band up to the super-elite of the music world. With phenomenal guitarist John Frusciante rejoining, this album stays true to the bands punkier roots but delivers a more mature sound.
