I have to say, after 3 or 4 spins of this album, it's finally grown on me. I wasn't sold at first, but after each spin, the album gets better. Jesse is back and sounds great on vocals, and the drums on this album are faster and more intricate than I've ever heard from Killswitch, previously. More guitar solos, too. The band sounds hungry again after a few blah albums. Is this album better than Alive or Just Breathing or The End of Heartache? No. But it's a worthy 3rd addition to their "best" albums.
After several mediocre albums in a row, Killswitch Engage is finally back on top of the metalcore heap after getting back a critical ingredient--original singer Jesse Leach. This man is simply a powerhouse among metal vocalists and his importance to the Killswitch sound can't be overstated. Through 12 ripping metal anthems (16 in the highly recommended Special Edition) Jesse croons and growls with unheard of conviction and strength. This is a great album all the way and a welcome return to form. Killswitch Engage is back.
