Divisionby 10 Years

"Division" is a solid collection that typifies the intriguing sound of 10 Years. It is a theme-based offering masterfully developed to segue smoothly from one track to the next. It is a reflective work that wrestles with the different aspects of the haunting disparity that belies us all, that is the "division" between desires and actions, dreams and reality, and ourselves and others. This battle is reflected best in "Just Can't Win" and "11:00am Daydreamer". Although there is significant depth of lyric for contemplation throughout, the album still rocks, providing edgy rhythm and rifts that are angst driven, yet melodic and well-placed. The top tracks that represent the albums strength and beauty are "Beautiful", "Focus", and "So Long, Goodbye". In my estimate "Division" is worthy of a 5 Star rating as it creates a desire for multiple plays and prompts me to discover and explore the band's other works.
