Frampton's Camel is Peter Frampton's 2nd solo album, yet a group effort. The band consisted of Peter, keyboardist Mick Gallagher, drummer John Siomos & bassist Rick Wills. Originally released 1n 1973, it was a slight departure from his first solo LP "Wind Of Change" in which Peter used session musicians. Lyrically, this LP seems to indicate Peter was losing a love in his life which actually turns out to it's musical advantage!

"Keeping My Eyes On You" opens the record with a funky Wurlitzer groove, heartfelt vocal performance from Peter and sets the vibe for the whole LP. "Lines On My Face" is an amazing song, which bleeds of emotion from the major 7th vs minor chord structures against a beautiful melody. The band's version of Stevie Wonder's "I Believe When I Fall In Love With You It'll Be Forever" is very similar to Stevie's original version on his LP "Talking Book".

Besides "Lines On My Face", the best songs on this CD are the poignant "Just That Time Of Year", "Don't Fade Away" and "Which Way The Wind Blows". "White Sugar" is a great rocker, which Humble Pie (Peter's ex band)could have taken in a great direction. The long jam of "Do You Feel Like We Do" is musically interesting, yet lyrically lame. But go figure, it would turn out to be Peter's signature song after his his 5th solo LP "Frampton Comes Alive" LP came out.

All and all, "Frampton's Camel" is one of Peter's best efforts. It stands up to the test of time. Buy it!!
