This is an awesome album because it really rocks but it is also a great album to chill to and just enjoy a summer day. It is both bright and dreary all at once but in a good way that becomes relatable. This album is a rock album that doesn't take itself overly seriously. It isn't incredibly heavy but its not soft either which makes it appealing to a wide variety of listeners. This is an album that has aged so well because it feel classic and draw from a lot of rock and roll influences as well as some slight punk and 80's new wave. I also like that the strokes make an effort to make awesome riffs that are generally not low and brooding. They really make full use of chord structures and their writing style slows them to create vocal melodies that land in the Lowe register. This allows the band to create a neat contrast to how most bands approach the ideas of melody and accompaniment.

I think my fav track on this album is "someday" because it manages to feel generally lighthearted but has lyrics that almost come across as if there might be some sarcasm intended throughout. But overall, this is a consistent and we'll thought out album that is still easy to enjoy even almost 20 years after its release.
