Sometimes nostalgia can pay off. That's the case with my purchase of this CD. I bought "Lawyers In Love" because of the title track. I owned the cassette many decades ago, but lost the cassette somewhere in time.
"Lawyers In Love" brings back a memory of an infatuation I had with a girl when the song came out. I would be listening to the song when around the girl. So even though the song has nothing to do with the traditional love, for me it will always have that connection. The lyrics prove quite dated in light of the current world situation, but I still enjoy the song today as I did back then.
"On The Day" has an enjoyable beat even if some of the lyrics aren't as enjoyable. The overall message is nice, it's just the chorus can get irritating at times. It's a decent, but not great song.
"Cut It Away" is an enjoyable song. Listening to "Cut It Away" brings a smile to my face. It's a simple song that is pleasant to listen to.
"Downtown" has a nice blend of instruments. The lyrics make me smile because there are certain parts I can relate to in my present circumstances. Years ago I couldn't relate the same way.
"Tender Is The Night" is a classic Jackson Browne song that I forgot about. I was surprised it was on this album. It truly is a great song that deserves its place on his Greatest Hits albums, and I'm glad it was on this album.
"Knock On Any Door" is another decent song. The music is good while the lyrics are okay. I'm not saying the song is without merit. It's just not among my favorites songs on the album.
"Say It Isn't True" is a slow song with a basic beat. The music does fit the lyrics good. It is more a a speaking style than singing style. It is different than other songs on the album, so it does provide for a nice change. "Say It Isn't True" is also the longest song on the album, at almost five and a half minutes in length.
"For a Rocker" does have the rock beat one would expect from the title. It is enjoyable. It is a good way to end the album. It is a good song and has a number of instruments within the song.
Even though there are only eight songs on the album, "Lawyers In Love" is an album worthy of purchase. It clocks in at about thirty five and a half minutes in length total running time, so all the songs have a decent length to them so you don't go away feeling as if you've paid for a short length album with only a few songs on it. Most of the songs are good, and all the music is good.
"Lawyers In Love" is a good album to own, even if in my case it was the nostalgia that got me to purchase it.
