If you bought this album back in the day, you saw the “warning” THIS RECORD SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD. Truer words could not be spoken. From the opening notes of “Gimme Shelter” it is obvious that Let It Bleed is another top notch Rolling Stones album. Released in November of 1969, the closing of an eventful decade, the message of apocalypse and yet some hope are evident throughout.
Richards thundering guitars carry the strong message present in Jagger's classic vocals shouting, or perhaps pleading, “If I don't get some shelter, I'm gonna fade away.” and he reminds us of our comraderie as he lets us know ”If you want it baby, you can lean on me.” We are not left wondering though, as the album closes with the hopeful “You Can't Always Get What You Want”featuring the London Bach Choir. Classic rock form an era that refuses to be forgotten, “Let It Bleed” has a place in any collection.
