Also lithium goes hard and has awesome dynamics. And come as you are is pretty wavy in my opinion as well. You really can't beat the melodies on this album and I also think the bass player deserves a shout out because he plays some pretty Danks riffs that are reminiscent of some early stuff from the pixies. And in alot of ways, I hear alot of the pixies in the sound of this album and nirvana as a whole. What makes the diffrence is that nirvana made a conscious effort to be mainstream while paying homage to bands that came before them that also did important work musically.
This album was a game changer in every sense of the words. This album not only captured the essence of a generation, but it also opened the door for a alot of the great music that came after it. This album is loud and agressive in a very noise and uncontrolled way. The reason this is important is because noise rock music wasn't unheard of by any means. But what made this album and grunge as a while diffrent is that the noise was not polished or prestine. It was chaotic and raw. And this album was one of the original albums that exposed mainstream America to grumge.
Another interesting note about this album is that it has influences of some classic rock and roll and surf rock but with a much darker and more chaotic overtone. This album also features disturbing and angst lyrics which give a sense of rebelling against societal norms. And that is appropriate considering that this was trying to push boudaries.
My favorite tracks on this album are "drain you", "in bloom", and of course "smell's like teen spirit". And as a side note, the guitar solo for in bloom is insane from a listener standpoint and as a a guitar player.

The recognizable opening riff of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" alone brought Nirvana and "Nevermind" to new heights of fame and popularity that not even Black Sabbath experienced during the release of their debut self-titled album. Key tracks are "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "In Bloom", "Come As You Are", "Breed", "Lithium" and "Drain You".
