Pleasant Dreams was a departure from the Phil Spector Overly produced album- End Of The Century- and they brought on Graham Gouldman of 10cc fame which I think was a smart move in the right direction. This was a better rounded and tighter album then the Phil Spector release, this had that 60's two to three minute songs ( Ramones Standards) and very melody driven songs with some great rock and roll. There was some punk of the earlier times like -We Want The Airwaves-All's Quiet On the Eastern Front-KKK Took My Baby Away- which could fit right in on say Rocket to Russia disc. She's a Sensation and 7-11 are very fun pop punk with some catchy lyrics. With this album they were still trying to go mainstream kind of like the last album but not so much of wanting as bad. We want the Airwaves says it the most because they still wanted to be noticed and this was a great track. The song- It's not my Place( In the 9 to 5 World) screams to be a big catchy hit. The Influence is defiantly from the 60's sound and not so much punk and more emphasis on song writing. I have heard that this wasn't the bands favorite but I tend to disagree I think it is a fun and well thought out album , with some very memorable Ramones classics. This re-issue set has some demo tracks that are a wonderful little treat and if you are a Ramones fan you will love this album. Ha Ho Lt's Go!!!
