Playing a keyboard is basically pushing buttons, especially those early synthesizers that had no velocity control, and as such no immediate dynamic variation between notes. It takes a rare artist to have such technique that their personality shines through that mechanical limitation, but Chick Corea is such a master. Not only does he have Glenn Gould's clarity of line, but his distinctive acciaccatura signals his unique flair, like a trumpet announcing a matador.
In Return To Forever, Corea assembles other equally masterful musicians (and composers) to produce one of the most iconic signature albums of 1970s jazz fusion. Required listening.

This is still my all time favorite album. It invokes a slight euphoria that is hard to beat. One of the most interesting mixes of sounds that anyone has come up with. Creativity is key and if you're testing out a sound system - this is a great one to play. It's the last of the old Return to Forever group with Di Meola, White, Corea and Clarke at their finest. Hints of Yes(Wakeman for sure) and Baroque to fusion sounds that will entertain your listening palette. It really doesn't get any better than this. A standard of excellence.
