This album has a lot of winning-tracks for me, although I do feel like by this point in their career, Bullet had become kind of formulaic and even a bit monotonous. Still, whoever said there are no more guitar-heroes never heard these guys do their thing. For me, BFMV's value is in their combination of active-riffing guitars and excellent balance of melodic vocals with usually just a pinch of screams to accent certain moments.
Here are the songs I'd recommend from this album and why...
"Hearts Burst Into Fire" - Two tracks in and my mind is blown already. This song is a nice break from their usual twisted "I love you... and therefore you must DIE" psychosis gimmick. I don't really know what the meaning of the title is, but my one theory is so blood-vomitingly emo that I dare not speak it. XD Good song, though. I love that it starts with a slow, clean riff and guitar soloing and builds into a compatibly-faster rhythm - none of this "intro in a time signature that makes it totally out of place with the rest of the song" crap that metal bands do these days.
"Waking the Demon" - This one has always gotten me excited. The riff is BREWTAHhHhHL!!! DX \m/ It's fun to listen-to and also to play. And the guitar solo isn't screwing-around either. I'm not impressed with their use of these demonic possession clichés, but for a song as good as the rest of this, I'll let them slide this time.
"Say Goodnight" - I love how dark this song is, and that they're not in a rush to get heavy with it. They certainly get there, but they take their time. The clean-tone riffing and soloing remind me of imagery from films like "Underworld." And it's a tragic story, but once again not their usual twisted, love/hate/kill fare. It's a song about mourning, and you can really feel it in the notes they choose. The way the song evolves is kind of like the way mourning often does - there's a deep sorrow but it's held-back until those moments alone later, when it comes to an explosive climax.
"Forever & Always" - A song for the fans... Mostly. I think. o.O Awesome heavy riff that gives a solid foundation for a very genuine lyrical message carried by a simple but powerful melody. I wish it didn't take so long to wind-down in the end. There's at least ten seconds of absolute silence at the end which will really feel like a lag in your metal playlist. Still a favorite, though.
"Road to Nowhere" - Teh awesummm. ^_^ I love that they used acoustic guitar for at least half this song. Eventually it reaches the bridge and you know it just got real, like a mind snapping from the strain of the situation in the lyrics. It's a nice, melodic song with very little screaming and solid instrumentation.
Other songs I'd recommend include "Last to Know," "End of Days" and "Disappear."

Bullet for my Valentine is my FAVORITE modern band. Why? Because they are skilled, loud and MELODIC. They are not generic or boring like many modern rock bands.
I give this album 5 stars. It has less screaming and more of an old-school/thrash metal feel then the previous album, which I noticed right away listening to the first two tracks (did I mention that I love Metallica ?) There is less screaming, maybe at least partly because the singer had gone through health problems involving his voice or something like that.
This band is SO GOOD that they were the first band with some screaming that I actually listened to and loved. They even became my favorite modern band. The singer sings great, and the screams are not crappy (like most other bands). Lots of singing, which is what I like. This music never gets old or boring to me like some bands do.
