Bring Me The Horizon are one of the most polarizing acts in modern metal, and with good reason. Their earlier material was unmistakably vanilla deathcore that many older listeners found easy to dismiss as mall metal for angsty teenagers. With their last album in 2010, it became clear that BMTH was ready to become something more special and memorable--transcending their earlier albums and bringing in interesting newer influences from electronic and dance music with their metalcore base. With "Sempiternal" the band have reached a new zenith of creative potential with each track showing a wide berth of dynamics and unusual but memorable and epic choices. The opener "Can You Feel My Heart?" is a thumping electronic number, and "Shadow Moses" is another slower but beautiful song. The best on display here is a Linkin Park-esque tune called "Empire". It's a bouncy and sincere track that offers something for everybody. Overall it's a great album and comes highly recommended to rock and metal fans.
