Sunlit youth pretty much live us to its name. Its an album that feels young and free. It is very happy go luck and carefree but also had moments where it is going out of its way to be genuine. These guys def know there audience well and they deliver the kind of catchy blissful tracks that any indie kid is looking for to get them through life. This album does seem like it has both a sense of adventure and a sense of despiration woven into it. It's like the music wants to bring a feeling of joy because it has no other choice. This music sounds and feels like a struggle between conflicting emotions. It wants to be happy and energetic but it also feels like it wants to be aware of the reality of the world at the same time. I suppose I could be reading into it much but for me, I get the sense that there is a pressure to escape from the pain of life but there is also a pressure not to ignore it. And that really is the struggle of trying to lead a so called normal life. People want to be happy and stable and acknowledging or trying to adress the problems around them poses a threat to this stability. I guess that really sums up what I got our of this albums. Or at least what I felt like the album allowed me to contemplate and reflect on.
