"This is the one I love"!
Corrected track listing :)
1
The One I Love
2
The one I love (Live) acoustic
3
Maps And Legends (Live) acoustic
"The One I love" live is an all acoustic version of the song. It gives a more "haunting feel" to it rather than the LP version.
"Maps and Legends" is a song that I really didn't like until I heard the unplugged version.
"Point to the yellow, red, and green"! As with more R.E.M. songs... this song seems to be up to the individual on what it's true meaning is.
To me, it's a song about not having a "clear path". Maybe using a little bit of the "given path" in life and also realizing that the "given path" is also no better than just taking a completely unexplored path.
One could apply this to religion or politics. But I feel that the song is more about an individual who sees something in the "written maps" that no one else seems to get. Maybe it's just a book... or something more. A book or song that has a hidden meaning to it.
As an "EP", the songs on the album flow together quite well.
There is also another version of the EP with two alternate songs.
"Last Date" 2:16
"Disturbance at the Heron House"- 3:26
I wish that Mike Mills would have sung on more songs along with Stipe...
