Willia Alan Ramsey is a Texas-based songwriter and this is his fantastic debut LP, released in 1972. The LP was released on Denny Cordell & Leon Russell's Shelter Records, which also was the home of other great artists like Richard Torrance, Merry Clayton, Dwight Twilley and Leon Russell himself. This LP is mostly noted for the original version of Ramsey's "Muskrat Love (Muskrat Candlelight)" which was covered first by America and then by Captain And Tenille (making it a huge hit). Ramsey's heartfelt "The Ballad Of Spider John" was covered by Jimmy Buffett early in his career as well. "Painted Lady" & "Angel Eyes" are great songs too; to be honest there is really not a bad song on this CD. Sparse arrangements, with haunting melodies and touching lyrics; this is a fantastic debut LP. Buy it!!!
