Kings of Leon is one of the biggest rock bands around. The Followill brothers rightly rank high on the popularity list for festivals and radio playlists with songs like "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody", which combine great guitar riffs with front man Caleb Followill's excellent voice.
"Because of the Times" is Kings of Leon's third studio album, and while the previous two were not entirely to my liking aside from a song here or there, this third Kings of Leon iteration represents the turning point in terms of quality--it's when the brothers leave most of their folk or country roots behind and go out fully to get that rock sound in there.
"Because of the Times" is a great album, with the highlight probably being "Ragoo", which is funky, energetic and features great lyrics that might actually make you laugh ("You caught me with my pants down!"). "Charmer" is an equally good track.
The third Kings of Leon album definitely isn't their best--if you are looking for the best music they've managed to produce, go for "Only by the Night". However, "Because of the Times" definitely is rather good in its own way, and very much worth buying.
