Dolly Parton's Bluie Smoke album is incredible and, hard to believe, her highest charting album...ever. The lead song, Blue Smoke, is a brand new song but somehow vintage Dolly style and pure country complete with tight harmonies and fiddle. Later you'll here vintage a Bob Dylan song; Don't Think Twice..The vocals again feature tight bluegrass style harmony on this 60's fok era classic. This song has been recorded by many and rarely has sounded so good...and so fresh. The album also features songs with Kenny Rogers (You Can't Make Old Friends) and Willie Nelson (From Here to the Moon and Back). Neither are out of place and have some real emotion. Fans of traditional American folk music will love Banks of the Ohio...that timeless wonderful tragic beautiful song that is again refreshed by Dolly and her greatr musicians. The final cut is "Try" is a pure Parton joy and echoes the kind of song writing we've loved from Parton for...wait for it...almost 50 years. Awesome..It'll bring a tear but you won't mind. It's what Dolly has always done so well. Not a bad song on this album.
Dolly Parton is in her late 60's but sounds as good or better than Dolly at 20, 30, 40 or beyond. Wonderful album with deserved great success.
