Suffocation was doing brutal technical death metal before anyone else. Each album was ever evolving and these guys would get more and more brutal and technical with each release. It started with the Human Waste EP which had two tracks that carried over to Effigy of the Forgotten. This whole album is awesome from start to finish. It's brutal heavy riffs, fast tempo, and the technical drumming is what modern death metal bands are copying today. I reviewed the Human Waste EP and Effigy just picks up where that EP left off and begins the progression of what this band has become today. The title track, Seeds of the Suffering, and the two tracks from the EP are reason enough to own this, but you won't be disappointed by any of the rest. If you truely love death metal like myself, then you owe it to yourself to check out anything from Suffocation because they are one of the best death metal bands out there.
