A masterpiece of pure nostalgia. From beginning to end the entire collection of songs rings true of the sound that The Monkees were known for many years ago. I pre-ordered this album when I heard of it's release and was thrilled to see that even Michael Nesmith had made an appearance on a good number of the tracks. Although this was too late for Davy Jones (R.I.P.), it does included his rendition of "Love to Love".

At the time I was unfortunately unable to get my hands on the deluxe version until I found it here. Two versions of the same song "Me & Magdalena" allows for two different perspectives, Version 2 being a little more peppy and upbeat with the track, though in the end it's Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenze harmonizing on point that ties it all together.

"She Makes Me Laugh" which is the first single for this album as written by Weezer's Rivers Cuomo was a breath of fresh air and a good introduction for what was in store with this (mostly) new compilation of music. "You Bring the Summer" by Andy Partridge has the distinctive touch and a bubbly and upbeat tempo, written in winter but definitely meant to bring a brightness that can light up any room.

"Whatever's Right" definitely has the feel of a more original Monkees tune as was in fact written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, which makes for another great installment in my opinion.

"Little Girl" (not to be mistaken for Davy Jones's "Little Girl" ) was written by Peter Tork as somewhat of an answer to the song "I Wanna be Free" in another scenario, though if that's the case I'm thinking "Our Own World" might be in answer to "Dream World" giving permission to go off into another world... but that's neither here nor there.

All in all it's a fun little jaunt into the past with up beat and modern tracks that I would recommend to any new or returning Monkees fan.
