From Middletown, CT, members Andrew VanWyngarden, Ben Goldwasser, Will Berman, Matt Asti and James Richardson form the band MGMT. The style? Bubblegum psychedelic rock/alternative pop.
The first track on the album, titled, "Alien" reminds me of "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. Kind of trippy with a multi-dimensional sound, almost with a Pink Floyd feel.
If you are hoping for sounds like that of MGMT's previous albums, this isn't it. "Plenty of Girls in the Sea" is the only track that didn't ramble on in heavy synth and repetitive drum machine beats.
