This album provided a new and alternative sound to the previous "bubblegum pop" boy band. It has a new aspect to the typical boy band. The lyrics are meaningful and touching, while being accompanied by, in this album usually, an acoustic guitar. Each of the members of One Direction are wonderfully showcased with solos and instrumental parts, and are all represented equally. This album is a new, but different, addition to the boys' discography.
