Owl City continues to evolve and stay relevant, and I love that about him. He maintains that balance between keeping the sound that makes an artist identifiable, while refreshing things to keep up with the times and keep fans satisfied. Adam is a good man with a great talent. His music speaks on so many levels to many different people in varying situations. He has his usual poppy, upbeat songs, while giving some calmer, more serious-toned songs that speak in a different way.
My favorites on this album are: "Verge", "Thunderstruck", "My Everything", "I Can't Live Without You", "You're Not Alone", and "Back Home".
"Verge" has Aloe Blacc and is a great feature in my opinion. Aloe fits well in this song about the future and and the exciting prospects that it can hold for all of us.
"You're Not Alone" with Britt Nicole is like a big hug in the form of a song. It's encouragement when you need it. When you feel like things are too tough to handle, this song is there for you!
"Back Home" caught my attention the most on this album, mainly because of the feature of Jake Owen. I didn't expect a country artist to feature on this album at all, but now that I've heard the song, I'm glad he did! This is good song with a great feature that provides you with a little bit of that nostalgia of going home.
Owl City does it yet again! He hasn't lost a step, and in fact continues to improve himself and keep things fresh, which I feel is getting even harder in today's music industry with all the push for singles that simply make money. He continues to provide us with real music with a purpose and a mission. Pick this album up! You will love it!
