Scurrilousby Protest The Hero

Protest The Hero return after a 3 year break from "Fortress" with an excellent collection of 10 songs on "Scurrilous". Protest The Hero sounds as energetic as ever, as this is undeniably their most consistently fast-paced effort. From "C'est La Vie", a strong opener and great choice for first single, to "Sex Tapes" PTH hardly ever slow down. The whole album is a technical masterpiece, with flawless guitar work that seems almost effortless from their twin attack. As impressive (and yet polarizing) as always is vocalist Rody Walker, whose voice soars above every song and really gives PTH their huge personality. Walker also took the reigns on lyrics for the first time with Scurrilous, so it's more of a disjointed effort from that perspective. All in all, it's a very impressive work! 4 out of 5
