So Far, So Good...So What! Is easily the most divisive of the band's early work. Whereas their debut was very much what it was and the start of Megadeth, this third album seems to be for fans either an underrated album or one of their weakest. Like its predecessor this album is also lyrically diverse with just about every song covering a different subject matter. In fact it is probably more so since it drops the somewhat dominant occult themes of the last album. The introduction of Megadeth's first instrumental opens the album. Aptly titled Into The Lungs Of Hell, this instrumental number manages to give you that very feeling. Ah, then we move on to the cover of Anarchy In The UK. This version is energetic and a joy to listen to but is plagued with wrong lyrics. It seems back in the day you couldn't just find lyrics on the internet and well, Dave apparently couldn't tell what Johnny Rotten was saying at times. Anyway, it makes this a humorous highlight on the album for sure. In My Darkest Hour is the most beloved song on display here for most fans and it is certainly understandable. If you have the remaster this track has an extended melodic opening which perfectly sets the tone for the song. Written by Dave as a response to the death of former Metallica bandmate Cliff Burton, this one sees a first for Megadeth as a more somber tone is present here even though it does burst into thrash towards the end. Dave finds himself reflecting on everything from his belief in god to his girlfriend. Album closer and my personal favorite, Hook In Mouth is a vicious assault on the censorship of the PMRCA. This finds Dave at his most angry and includes some of his most sinister vocal moments on any album. It has a memorable chant-along chorus and some excellent buzzsaw guitar sections. As far as how this album holds up against the other early works of Megadeth goes, for me I feel as a whole it is probably the weakest but does include a couple of essential highlights which makes it worthy of attention. After this, the band would go on to release another thrash classic proving that this album was in no way the group skipping a beat.

After releasing Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?, Megadeth released their third album, So Far, So Good... So What! It is an awesome album, but unfortunately, very underrated. It is an excellent release and Megadeth's best, in my opinion.

Into the Lungs of Hell: Such an awesome instrumental that I feel like I'm entering the lungs of hell. The most ass-kicking song on the album. 30+/10

Set the World Afire: The first song Mustaine wrote after leaving Metallica. Should have been on the debut, and i would have liked it a lot better. 25/10

Anarchy in the U.K.: Many may disagree with me on this, but I think that this song is just as good, if not better, that the original. I can say that because Johnny Rotten was singing on this song. 20/10

Mary Jane: Great thrash song, a lot like many other Megadeth songs. 15/10

502: See Mary Jane. This song, unlike its predecessor, uses more chugging riffs. 17/10

In My Darkest Hour: Considered to be the best song on the album. Great song. 15/10

Liar: Dedicated to Chris Poland for quitting the band. A little harsh, though. He may be a liar, but Mustaine took it to extremes. Still great song musically. 20/10

Hook in Mouth: Like "My Last Words" from the previous album, a fast-paced song that leaves you begging for more. 20/10
