I had an urge to review this fantastic debut album by BBMAK, after listening to it for the eighth time (at least), it's true that this trio of British handsome boys really deserves my attention and the opportunity of being recommended by me as well. Simply put, in my opinion, this is the best boy-band album of all time.
Where can I start describing this incomparable - for its genre, pop - CD? First, I'm very sorry as I'm writing this, to know these three talented guys disbanded over a decade ago. If they could have been still around (musically speaking, of-course), we'd be able to get from them a great gift in the form of beautiful melodies combined with perfect lyrics and heart melting harmonies... But, still, I guess having one or two albums from them is better than having anything at all. I'm not usually this delighted by a boy-band - in fact, I used to hate them when I was at that appropriate age of adoring boy-bands. Around the age of seventeen, I thought they were all imitators of other earlier boy-bands, that their sound sound alike in almost every song you got to hear playing on the radio back in the mid to late nineties... Barely out of my teen years, I discovered - completely by coincidence, naturally - this boy-band called BBMAK, comprised of three very talented British young fellows, and although a bit cynical about how yet another boy-band will sound like, I decided to give it a go and to really purchase their debut album - for I've heard their first single while watching MTV (something I admit no one does anymore these days), and to my surprise I liked what I've heard. Boy, am I happy I bought this! It turned out to be one of the best buys I've done in years, and unlike other album in my enormous collection, this is one that from the first listening day up to recent days, never just waited forgotten on a shelf for me to discover its contents... Every song on "Sooner Or Later" could easily become a single, and I find it almost impossible to chose a favorite among these tunes, but there are of-course some stand-outs, among them the first single "Back Here" (one of the catchiest I have the honor to know), their exciting ballad "The Ghost Of You And Me" (maybe the best ballad of the year 2000), and the energetic and infectious "Love On The Outside" - a personal favorite of mine. Anyway, all the songs are really worth listening much more than once, worth cherishing and without a doubt worth taking space of your music collection. As for the guys' singing here, no complaints. They're not only attractive, they also have the voices to match the music, to prove they're worthy of serious attention. I do hope one day either boy (well, now a man actually) from the BBMAK trio will come back with a solo treat - because if it will be as good as this one is - that potential solo album will have an instant client. Warmly recommended for everyone who is considering himself a real music admirer. Hope I had a part of helping you taking a buying decision.
