Tracks
This recording is everything the audiophiles have heralded it to be. The noise floor is virtually nonexistent. The stereo imaging is perfection. The instruments, including Rebecca’s voice are captured with great clarity and accuracy. Unfortunately, it is probably the most perfect recording you will ever listen to once and then put on the shelf and forget about until the next time you want to demo your hi-fi system for a friend. It’s that memorable. The album suffers from lackluster songwriting and a general lack of that “thing” that grabs you about a great performance. There is very little here musically to move the soul. Spanish Harlem is the exception and it is executed beautifully. Rebecca’s voice and style suit this song very well and the recording quality really lets her shine. It is the only track I think I would find myself wanting to listen to again and again. My advice, if you’re not an audiophile or gear enthusiasts, download Spanish Harlem, for the gem that it is, and put the rest of your money towards an album that grabs you by the heart strings and makes you feel something.
