Someone
Rihanna ceases to amaze me yet again. 'Unapologetic' isn't an album I will be listening to often. Rihanna's voice has seemed to decline in value or talent, as I should say over the years. Her older music is much much better and those albums don't dissapoint. Rihanna just didn't do it for me this time.

The Ri-Ri bandwagon rolls on...but on listening to what is a no doubt hit studded multi platinum offering one cant help thinking that this is all just a little bit formulaic. There is no doubt that Rihanna has talent. There is no doubt that she can sing and that her voice has a distinctive and harmonic quality. There is also no doubt that Rihanna is a brilliant performer. She is also a recording phenomenon but it would be my view that it is her performance strengths that carry the recording career and not the other way around.Having said all of this the album is not unpleasant. It is brilliantly produced. The material is relevant and absolutely up to date but does seem to be something of a production line offering. That's not to say that there are not stand out tracks, 'What Now' 'Jump' and 'Diamonds' are excellent in terms of their energy and control- but there are some more disappointing offerings, not that that will impact on the popularity of this worldwide hit.
