I don't care what anybody says, this is hands down fall out boys best album. Coming from the standpoint of being a guitarist and an aspiring songwriter, this is the bands best writing to date. Even though it wasn't all that well received, that has nothing to do with the music itself. This was so vastly diffrent from the bands previous work and it was miles ahead of thier prior writing as far as maturity. It wasn't the sound that alot of thier fans were looking for but if this had been recorded by a diffrent band, it would have gone down as one of the best alternative rock albums of the 2000's. It was only preconceived notions of what the album should have been that kept it from being received as such.
This album has epic choruses that sound like the making of a Broadway musical. It's theatrical and energetic from start to finish. It was honestly ahead of its time compared to its peers.
The songs headfirst slide into Cooperstown on a bad bet is one the most brilliant songs I've ever hear from this band. The lyrics haunt me to this day. One line in particular always gets me: "I will never end up like him. Behind my back I already am." I think that line alone captures so much of what this album really means. Fall out boy wanted to make sure they didn't lose the relavance they had built over the years and in thier effort to do so, they were criticized for not making music that was relevant.
Personally, I don't think this criticism is warranted. This album was never given the chance it deserved to stand alone as a work of art and be judged on its own merits as opposed to the merits of what fall out boy had created prior. I'm very passionate about this topic and I could go on. But I hope that nearly a decade later now that the landscape of popular music is completely diffrent from what it was, that listeners can hear this album with a sober judgement and not one that is entoxicated by peer pressure and social relevance.

This is by far my favorite fall out boy album! It is so good I can honestly listen to it several times and not get bored.. Folie à Deux is really good and has some really original songs. I love the fact that there are so many different interpretations of what the lyrics mean and the message they are trying to send. 27 is one of my favorites from this album and coffee's for closers so give them a listen if nothing else!! This is such a good album I recommend getting it all. And if like me you love it then you should check out good Charlotte because they are equally awesome :) happy listening
Folie à Deux is the fifth album by the American rock band Fall Out Boy. 19 tracks from the popular fall out boy... they are loved all over the world and this album is one of their best. The lead single being "I Don't Care"... this single is well known song and made number one i the charts. good album from fall out boy its well worth having a listen to if you like their kind of music. happy listening :)
