Fall Out Boy is known for their funky music paired with words that rarely (if ever) make much sense. Maybe the reason that combination has gotten them so far is that it means each listener can think of the lyrics differently so they apply to that person. That's shown in this album, while some songs like "Thriller" do make a lot more sense than the average Fall Out Boy hit.
This is probably one of their best albums, although if you don't like them, it probably won't make you a fan--their music is a sort of acquired taste. The melancholy and yet hopeful lyrics are perfectly mixed with upbeat music (riddled with a lot of percussion, as always). "Long live the car crash hearts" is a line in one of their songs, but it also seems to be the meaning of the album.
