Deep Purple is a band with so many personnel changes (fourteen different players including Joe Satriani) that it is hard to keep track which musician played in which song or album (a lot fewer changes than fellow countrymen of band Yes for sure). Deep Purple have released many records, studio and live concerts, in all their existence. This album is number 20. After almost 50 years of performing, its about time for them to retire. Almost all members are in their 70's except for Steve Morse. As a fan one would like to see them saying goodbye with a great album, but such is not the case. It is comprehensible that Ian Gillan's voice isn't the same as it was in his prime between 1970 and 1990. The musicians are still playing very well in studio, but their songs aren't that good. The fans have waited four years for this release, and as a fan one expected more. It is commendable and fantastic that at their age they are still composing new songs. Nevertheless, there are some good moments and the best songs of this release are: "Time For Bedlam", "All I Got Is You", and "Birds of Prey". Many classic Deep Purple themes in their songs also, but not the one to listen to if its your first time with Deep Purple. Better start off with "Perfect Stangers".
