Fans had to wait almost eight years for the release of this album. The previous album "Rapture Of The Deep" was released in 2005. NOW WHAT ?! has several slow tracks as well as some blues. There is a tribute song called "Uncommon Man" dedicated to the late Jon Lord who passed away the year before this release. Don Airey the "new" keyboard player who has been in the band since 2001, shines in this album giving a strong presence of organ/keyboards ala Jon Lord. Vocally, Ian Gillan is not as strong, but still sings very well for his age. Roger Glover and Ian Paice as always have a very solid and tight bass and drums performance. Steve Morse as always keeping the band young with his guitar contributions. The album is less rockier than what they released in the 70's, but that is ok. This is another version of Deep Purple and at a different stage in their lives. It is still the Deep Purple sound. Best songs are: "Out Of hand", "Above And Beyond", "Apres Vous", and the bonus track "Vincent Price".
